With a total of 188 brands, 538 products and 3216 product samples sent out, collating the results for the Mother and Baby Awards 2010, has been time consuming-to say the least. Each and every award category has been decided entirely by our volunteer tester mums and they have certainly been busy all this summer, putting products through their paces. Now our all important reviewers and ambassadors for parents everywhere, have produced the much awaited for shortlist of their favourites.
In response to the overwhelming level and quality of entries this year, we decided to split some of the larger categories to make more award categories. We have gone from 24 tested categories 2 years ago, to 30 last year and now to 33. You’ll see these extra additional awards as marked as *NEW* if you think that they look unfamiliar.
Plus one, judged by a panel at Mother & Baby for ‘Best New Innovation’. A product which we think is new, brilliant, a refreshing change and will make a difference to the lives of parents today.

How exciting 3 of the pushchairs I tested are on the list and I loved all 3 of them, graco symbio, baby Style quick start and the Concpord Neo all really fab pushchairs so i would be happy to see any of them win, all worthy winners to me.
I have just been browsing the shortlist for the best toys – getting some inspiration for good christmas buys – after all they have all been tried and tested by the best – our children!
this was my 1st year as a tester and i really enjoyed it. my fav product that i tested was the room make over kit, my girls love it. really hope it wins!

I loved the zoomster in the 12 month + toys category, as did my daughters and am glad to see it in the final.
Testing was good fun, it was great that our opinion was listened to
Absolutely loved being a tester this year. We tried the disposable nappies and wipes and I have to say that the Aldi nappies were the best, and the cheapest!! We now buy these instead of the more well known brands! Thank you for saving us some money!!

It’s great to see the babysense sling up there – I thoroughly enjoyed testing the slings and back carriers and am a full convert to slings (so is my husband), even though my daughter is 15 months old (bit late but still worth it!). Thankyou M&B
It’s great to see the shortlist. The best thing about this whole experience is that the reviews are coming from other mums like myself who, when spending money on these products, like to know that they do work and do exactly what the label says. This was my first year testing and I absolutley loved it!! I tested the Aquasoliari and the Angelcare Nappy Disposal amongst others and found them great!

Oh, this is going to be expensive – I’be just spent the last hour searching for all the items on the list that I didn’t know about and now really, really want! Surprised with the newborn toys shortlist – our favorite hasn’t made the grade (but then neither did the others that we really didn’t like!)
What were the products that you really liked, Jenny? It is still interesting to know especially as they may have only just missed making it onto the shortlist.
IT was the Taf toys newborn gym – by far the best baby gym that we tested and my testers are still fighting over whose house it currently lives in!
A great list and I’m already looking up some of them to buy! It’s great to know that we have been testing them and they are recommended by Mum’s. I loved the Tommee Tippee bottles so hope to see them up there.

It’s great to see the “Brother Max Milk Powder Dispenser” and the “Born Free bottles” in the list. We use the Brother Max dispenser and Born Free bottles every day, they’re great products. The “Mothercare Steriliser bottle” is great for out and about at Grandma’s and friends houses! It’s nice that these awards are done and that they are tested and recommended by other Mum’s of all ages.

Testing has been such a fantastic experience I love feeling a part of awards that I rate so highly when buying things so thank you, thank you, thank you!
Having become the worlds biggest advocate of the BEABA up-down bouncer chair I’m sad that it didn’t make it (although when I tested it with my son initially I wasn’t so impressed with it – definately one that comes into its own as your baby gets older).
2 things I didn’t test but I really hope win gold are the Kiddy Energy Pro carseat, I have the older model (the infinity pro) for my daughter and think it is fantastic and so safe if your child is a bit of an escape artist. I also think the Tripp Trapp highchair’s are fantastic as they can be used from baby to adult, something very few highchairs can claim (as well as looking good in your kitchen!).

WOW some worthy winners in those lists! I had a great time testing this year and hope to do it again next year! After testing travel systems I’m glad one of mine made the grade although am now wondering what people thought of all the rest that didn’t and that I loved! Next step for me is finding a group1 carseat for LO but am desperatly waiting for results so I can make a final decision! All in all a very helpful and rewarding experience….
What a fantastic time Ive had testing this year! My top 3 Pushchairs have made it into the top nominations and I am really happy to have played a part in getting them there!
The Skincare ranges are also looking fantastic, although I am gutted that one of my personal favourites – The Weleda range did not make it through- It won’t stop me continuing to use them though!

All the reusables nappies I tested but one made it to the short list. I really enjoyed testing this year and my husband is now a convert to reusable nappies. We are now even using some of them on our newborn. Hope to help out again next year.

Really interested to see who made it through the reusable nappy category. Having used them all over a period of time on my newborn, I have to say that BumGenius really are just that. I always use these at night time or on long journeys when nappy changes are less convenient, as I know they can withstand the pressure. Close Parent’s Pop-In Dream Dri didn’t appear to make it – I just took these on holiday, as they dry very quickly, but they are less reliably absorbent than BumGenius.

I’m all excited! I really loved testing for the first time this year. I was lucky enough to test the cots amongst other things! I would really like to see the walda day cot win, the cot is pricey but absolutely beautiful! I moved house right at the end of the testing and only just today managed to get back on line! I was part of the lucky one asked to test the Best Newborn Sleep Aid – 0-3 months (don’t we all praise that our little ones sleep and stay asleep..?!) and I really hope that the 37 DEGREES – swaddling temperature blanket wins the gold medal;the main reason being the use of the so called ‘smart textiles’ based on temperature regulation to help combat everyday fluctuations in ambient temperature and weather.
Any products that participate in fighting against cot death deserve a gold medal!!!
In the Best Product for Breastfeeding my gold medal goes the the life savior that is the LANSINOH – Lansinoh Lanolin for Breastfeeding Mothers; I would not have succeed at breastfeeding without it: amazing fast healing and can also be used for so many other things than nipples like dry lips,heels etc..a MUST have!
